About me
Perla Makhoul
I am a translational cancer researcher interested in deciphering the molecular and cellular networks that govern tumor development and therapeutic response. My work bridges molecular biology, immunology, and computational biology to identify vulnerabilities that can be leveraged for the development of more effective, precision-based cancer therapies.
Short bio
Previously, I worked as a postdoctoral researcher at the American University of Beirut (AUB), Lebanon, where I expanded my expertise in novel therapies for the treatment of hematological malignancies. I earned my PhD through an international joint program between the University of Montpellier (France) and the Lebanese University (Lebanon), during which I rotated every six months between three complementary research laboratories: the IBMM, the IRCM, and AUB.
This unique training allowed me to contribute to three interconnected research projects spanning molecular biology, immunology, and translational oncology, all united by a common goal: advancing the understanding and therapeutic targeting of cancer. Through this interdisciplinary and international experience, I have developed a collaborative research approach that bridges fundamental discoveries with translational applications to ultimately improve patient outcomes.
